God uses the weakest
of us to implement His divine plans. In 1999 Jeannie Prentice and her husband were both down sick with
the flu and running a fever, when she heard God say, “Jeannie, I want a women’s conference in Central Oregon.”
Having never been to one before, Jeannie wasn’t even sure what a women’s conference was. She
thought that the fever and the aspirin were playing tricks with her mind, but the idea—I want a women’s conference
in Central Oregon—persisted over the next six months.
Finally one day when she was washing dishes, Jeannie said,
“Lord, if you really want me to do this, give me a sign.” That night she had a dream that confirmed
that God really did want a women’s conference in Central Oregon.
And so she began to implement God’s plan.
Many times during the process, she felt totally lost and was brought to her knees. Her husband had
quadruple bypass surgery, and the project had to be put on hold for a time.
Finally, in late December 2003 the Lord began to show Jeanie
the way and a group of Christian women began organizing the conference. In April of 2004, God brought over 400 women to attend
the first Three Sisters Women’s Conference!
The Conference provides a time and place for women to come
together in the presence of God and encourage one another. We try to create an atmosphere of loving acceptance
where hurts can be healed and we can learn better ways to lead fulfilling lives. The model of sisterhood
best describes it.
Inspiring speakers from all over the country come to Central
Oregon to share how God is working in their lives and is helping them overcome obstacles. The event includes
worship music from talented local and not-so-local women who help set a Spirit-filled tone. Presenters
use skits, poetry, games, small groups and other methods to reach out and touch the hearts of those who attend.
We eat together, laugh together, and share stories and
tears. There are always women available to pray with anyone who is in need. We have
seen God do miraculous things in our midst!
The Three Sisters Women’s Conference is not funded
by any denomination. We continue to grow with God’s grace through donations and conference fees.
